We’ve done it again! We created a limited-edition private barrel selection collaboration with a whiskey house that we’re sure will be a winner winter warmer for yourself or someone on your holiday shopping list. Our past endeavors have focused on bourbon expressions, but this time we realized we’ve ignored Rye for far too long. So here you have it – a cask strength single barrel straight Rye whiskey tasted, tested and selected by our experienced Schaefer’s staff.
It is an understatement to say we’re excited about the rewarding results of our joint effort with Driftless Glen, one of the Midwest’s premier whiskey distilleries. It has been proudly distilled and bottled at their fine facilities in Baraboo, Wisconsin using local Midwest grain and water from the Driftless Region of Sand County. Their wise and wily ways in the rickhouse reflect their limitless passion and skill. Read on and all will be revealed.
Rock the Rye! Our Rye is high in this mash bill teasing the tastebuds with sassy spice. Rich root beer, sassafras, ground cinnamon, dried citrus peel and anise aromatics tempt you to tip the glass. Brown sugar, honeycomb, dark chocolate and balanced rye and cinnamon spice satisfy on the warm and punchy palate. Sure, it is bottled at 123-proof, but the seamless synergy of soothing spice and a balanced blend creates a mellow mouthfeel and textured lingering finish. The heat is pleasant and draws you back for another sip.
