When we think of Fall, specifically October, thoughts of turning colors, cool air, football and backyard fires enter the mind. Let's add one more American tradition to the mix - Bourbon.
The oldest whiskey family (The Samuel’s) produces Bourbon under a name most if not all of us who enjoy it will recognize…Maker’s Mark, which today is led by the Great Great Grandson of the Founder.
Spotlight on Maker's Mark 101 - In late 2018, Maker’s Mark announced they would release a 101 proof version of their brand that it would only be available at travel duty free shops. Now, you can purchase without having to travel to a different country.
Tasting Highlights from Schaefer's very own, Jackie B:
On the nose, an amazing amount of apple, vanilla and caramel. The palate has at first, what seems to be a sweetness, but quickly turns into flavors of caramel, butterscotch, vanilla and toasted nuts. Upon finishing, a burst of cinnamon comes through and lingers with more caramel, and vanilla. I really like this on its own, but would be an excellent choice in a Manhattan.
