Danish distiller Stauning flaunt their inner demons in this Research Series rye whisky bottling called El Clasico. An outrageous creative experiment gone right, El Clasico is borne of floor malted local water, rye and barley that is double distilled in 24 direct-fired pot stills. There is no chill filtering. It is matured in heavy charred virgin American oak barrels for 24 months and finished in Spanish vermouth casks for 6 months.
Exotic aromatic and palate sensations include oranges, apples, warm baking spices, roasted caramel, citrus, dried fruits and crushed pepper that linger into a long warm finish with bittersweet vermouth notes. 90.6 Proof
