A product of the innovative folks at Denmark's Stauning distillery, this rye whiskey from their Research Series is anything but traditional. Terroir-driven and forged with international influences it is an unexpected offspring, to say the least. Local rye and barley are floor malted with local water, double-distilled in 24 direct-fired pot stills and double matured in heavy-charred American virgin oak barrels and finished in Mexican Mezcal casks for 6 months. Total maturation between the two is 3 years.
Engaging aromatics and flavors include wildflowers, citrus, sweet tobacco, vanilla, oats, toffee, cinnamon, dried fruit and traces of Mezcal smoke. 92.6 Proof
