Beau Joie. Beautiful Joy. That sounds about right. This refined non-vintage blend of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier is a delight delicious enough to make Epernay proud. The wine and packaging are at the crossroads of tradition and modernity. A classic bottle is laced with a small portion of copper overlay. (On other Beau Joie bottlings the copper overlay completely encases the bottle and is claimed to be able to keep the bottle colder for longer once removed from the fridge. Hmmmm.... Perhaps...)
In the glass the bubbles are fine, the mousse is creamy and the balance of dryness and sweetness is created through a low dosage that maintains the fruity freshness of the wine. Complexity has been gained via 4+ years of lees aging before bottling. Bright acidity and lingering citrus and fruit notes reward the senses.
Consider pairing with popcorn, shrimp paella, Dungeness crab, Nicoise salad or roasted chicken with pearl onions and garlic.
