Hailing from the Corbieres area of the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, the wine is a rich blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. The grapes are sourced from selected plots aged 40-100 years. The Cariganan is vinified via Carbonic Maceration separately while the rest of the grapes are traditionally fermented. The brightness & complexity of this approach is immediately evident.
Lush layers of lavender, leather, mocha, thyme, clove, allspice, black plum, blackberries and black licorice with fine-grained tannins are charming and supple. An excellent introduction to Corbieres, consider pairing it with hearty fare as they would there: cassoulet, wild boar, roast pork with shallots, leg of lamb with rosemary or roast hare.
