MAS DE BOISLAUZON CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE 2017, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Mas de Boislauzon is located north of the appellation of Châteauneuf du Pape in the town of Orange. This 5th generation lead estate is ran by brother and sister Christine and Daniel Chaussy who have officially brought in and started teaching the 6th generation (their children) who have now joined them. Comprised of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre, this powerful wine is definitely full-bodied yet has silky tannins. Hues of dark purple are indicative of the black jammy fruit on the palate. Aromas of tobacco, smoke, and earth waft out leading into the juicy mouthfeel. Dark berries and purple plums are front and center with nuances of earthy, mushrooms leading into a long finish of toasty oak, baking spices, and mocha with some pops of minerality throughout. This is best enjoyed with grilled meats, roasted dishes, and spicier cuisines.
