GLENMORANGIE LASANTA 12 YEAR OLD SCOTCH, Scotland

William Matheson founded the Glenmorangie in 1843 on the banks of the Dornoch Firth in the Scottish Highlands. William used the distillery's peaceful surroundings as an inspiration to pioneer single malts into exceptionally smooth but wonderfully complex whiskies. Even today the distillery still honors his craft by continually producing their whiskies in the same way using Scotland's tallest stills for distilling and the finest casks and perfected by The Men of Tain for maturing to create a smoothness and depth. The Lasanta is aged first in ex-bourbon casks (crafted from American oak) for smoothness. Then they hand select Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Jerez, Spain. Their renowned smooth style is brimming with rich raisins, toffee, and spice thanks to the sherry casks. Aromas of warm baking spices and chocolate covered raisins are rounded out by honey and caramel. The palate is complex with nuances of sweet sherry, candied orange, walnuts, and butterscotch. Definitely full bodied the rich, velvety mouthfeel lends to the flavor profile from your first sip to your last. Complex and long on the finish you get warm spices, spiced oranges, and chocolate covered hazelnuts.
