Produced in Abruzzo this blend is 80% Montepulciano (harvested from the region's most ancient vines which have Greek origins) and 20% Sangiovese (harvested from 25-year-old vineyards). Deep purple and blue hues give hints of the flavors to come. Aromas of dried leaves are followed by ripe red and black cherry leading into a lush, intense palate of juicy blackberry, dark chocolate, nuances of leather, and toasty vanilla. Silky yet firm tannins exhibit the best of Abruzzo in the mouthfeel. Intense and deep throughout, the finish is just as complex. Figs, molasses, and dried dark flowers are rounded out by pops of minerality. Bold and jammy enjoy this on its own or with heavy dishes such as BBQ, roasts, braised meats, and stews.
