Whisky Maker's notes for Highland Park 18 - "Deep and intensely fruity but effortlessly smooth, Highland Park 18 is our most highly awarded (and dearly beloved) whisky, and for good reason. With a natural glowing amber colour straight from the cask, it’s a multi-layered whisky with many stories to tell—just like the people who make it. A fan favourite for a reason. Rich, fruity, caramelised sweetness on the nose, followed by finely balanced notes of orange zest, bittersweet chocolate, ripe cheries, honeycomb, candied orange peel, salty sea spray and aromatic smoke from our Orkney heathered peat on the palate. The finish is lingering, sweet and spicy with slightly nutty notes. The satisfying depth of the 18 year old comes from a higher proportion of whiskies matured in first-fill, sherry-seasoned European oak casks, which deliver intense notes of fruit and spice that linger on the palate. We round out these flavours with the addition of sherry-seasoned American oak casks and refill casks, resulting in a whisky that’s as balanced as it is complex." 86 Proof.
