Cypher was founded in 2010 when Sam (aka Susan A. Mahler) and her partners sold their original winery (Four Vines) to focus on a new upscale adventure creating premium wines. This was nothing new for Sam as she had been used to new adventures her whole life. After being born in small town Iowa her family uprooted and moved to Chicago to be close to her grandparents. Her family would regularly travel away from the city to go fishing, hiking, and camping. This made her passion for all things "Earth" continue to grow. So after college she moved to Colorado to become a commercial pilot and that took her out to Newport Beach (CA). After many years in the airline field, while simultaneously working on her PhD and still flying planes, she became a founding partner in Four Vines. However, 2002 was the year that Sam decided to leave Berkeley for Paso Robles so she left the PhD program and focused on growing her wine brand. 18 years after being in the industry and with many ups and downs Sam has found her niche with Cypher. 48% Malbec, 48% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon are blended to create a full-bodied deep purple wine with aromas of spiced dark fruits, leather, and warm vanilla. Complex and deep the palate is loaded with jammy baked dark fruits, baked spices, and tart black fruits. Finishing long and rich with a velvety mouthfeel loaded with spices and chewy dark caramel. Bold and sexy from your first sip to your last this is wonderful to drink on its own or pair with game meat, roasts, and bold meat dishes.
