Owner/Winemaker Matt Bonanno personally oversees every step of his vineyard by working side by side with the managers from each site. This ensures the quality of his fruit as well as achieves the maximum potential for each site and vintage. The 2016 BonAnno Cabernet Sauvignon fruit was sourced from several prime valley floor sites from within the St. Helena, Rutherford and Oak Knoll districts. Comprised of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot its aged 20 months in French oak barrels after fermentation. Deep ruby red in hue this seductive Cab shows classic aromas of spice and sage followed by a mix of blueberries and blackberries with fresh raspberry notes. A balance of acid and well-integrated tannins gives this wine a smooth, supple, and sleek mouthfeel. The intense jammy palate is dark fruit forward followed by tart currants, toasted oak, and mocha finishing with nuances of minerality. Bold yet bright this drinks beautifully on its own or pair with bold dishes, game dishes, and strong, hard cheeses and charcutier.
