Schaefer' Simple Sangria

Schaefer' Simple Sangria

We love to mix up a big, beautiful pitcher of sangria to go with our summertime favorites. We use a traditional Spanish recipe as our standard. Relatively easy and quick to prepare.

2 (750-ml) bottles of dry Spanish red wine

1 (750-ml) bottle sparkling water or club soda

3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup fresh raspberries, blackberries or blueberries

1 cup diced strawberries

1 cup diced nectarines or peaches

2 blood oranges, or navel/Seville oranges, juiced

1 lemon, juiced

In a large 1-gallon pitcher, combine all ingredients except sparkling water. Stir well to combine and dissolve the sugar. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Add sparkling water and serve.

This recipe can also be used to make white sangria, just pick your favorite summer white and substitute it.
