ASHES & DIAMONDS CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016, Napa

ASHES & DIAMONDS' Winery was created by Kashy Khaledi while he was working at Capitol Records. A California native Kashy is known for his work as a creative executive in multimedia and advertising. Even though he's owned Darioush Winery in Napa Valley since 1997, it's his ASHES & DIAMONDS' Winery that's putting Kashy on the map. The vineyard where the A&D grapes are sourced from lies within the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley and is owned by famed growers Bart and Daphne Araujo. Their Red Hen Vineyard sits in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. The site is farmed organically and biodynamically just as all of their other vineyards. The site itself is set in the heart of Rutherford in a historic vineyard that produced world famous wines in the 1960's. Hence Kashy chose the winery and site name based on a post war movie from 1958. Furthermore he set out to craft wines that pay homage to wineries from the Golden Area along. They utilize production methods similar to those who pioneered these techniques back in the day such ripeness at harvest, barreling, and time frames. All of the skill sets implemented from vine to bottle are taken from the bygone era to showcase wines that are savory, tightly-knit, single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark garnet hues lead into aromas of heavenly dried herbs and dried purple flowers. The powerful palate has black cherries, ripe red fruits, and warm tobacco with fresh spice. Finishing long and silky with the savory notes, jammy fruits, and warm spice this can easily be aged for decades to come. You can enjoy it now on its own or with bold spicy dishes, grilled, roasted, and braised fare as well.
