“Sets the Bar” for Fun!

Schaefer’s hosts numerous tastings, classes, dinners, and parties. An expert and/or VIP always guides the way. For decades Schaefer’s has been graced by scores of luminaries from around the world. It’s a testament to how we conduct our business and to the character of our customers.

“Schaefer’s Saturday” Tastings

Every Saturday we are tasting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sample foods from our deli and selected wines, beers, and spirits. Put us on your calendar!

Uncorked Events

On a scheduled basis, usually Thursday evenings, Schaefer’s hosts tastings and events featuring winemakers, distillers, brewers and their ambassadors. Broaden your horizons, sample the newest releases and enjoy great “one night only” deals. Be sure we have your email for a timely heads-up.

Saturday, March 28th: 11-5pm

A lot going on this weekend. In addition to our regular wine tasting, Zyr Vodka and Zyr ArcadeArcade Brewery will also be in attendance today.

Zyr Russian Vodka received a 100 point rating from Wine Enthusiast magazine. It’s incredibly smooth with just the right amount of texture…not to be missed.

Chicago-based Arcade Brewery is committed staying in communication with their community. Quarterly, they reach out and collaborate on label designs and attributes for new beers. Try their latest concoctions!

Sunday, March 29th: 1-4pm – Kosher Wines

Kosher for Passover Wine Tasting Israeli_Wines

Passover is just around the corner and we’ve selected a terrific assortment of Kosher for Passover wines for you to sample for your Seder.  We’re eager to share them with you. Segal’s & Barkan from Israel, Bartenura from Italy and Baron Herzog from California. There will also be a couple new additions to try. We will have the best open on the 29th!

Saturday, April 4th: 11-5pm

Brad Smith from Heritage Wine Cellars leads the charge this week. He’ll be Sonoma Cutrer Collagebringing an international line up of delicious wines with him. A representative from Sonoma-Cutrer will also be here. Stop by and sample their latest vintages from 1-4pm!

Thursday, April 9th: 5-7pm – Burgundy Tasting

Four Incredible Burgundies from Mischief & MayhemM & M Quad Label

We are excited for the return of Michael Ragg from Mischief and Mayhem winery on April 9th. We hosted a tasting with Michael last year and we are pleased to announce an encore performance that evening. Michael will be sharing four stellar burgundies from Mischief and Mayhem Wine Company. His three Premier Crus & a Grand Cru are ALL brought in exclusively for Schaefer’s.

His wines always receive top scores from the Wine Spectator. Mischief and Mayhem is the creation of Michael, his wife Fiona and Michael Twelftree, three great friends whose passion for wine, and for Burgundy in particular, inspired them to create the company. Mischief and Mayhem sources grapes from all over the Côte d’Or and the Raggs’ knowledge of the region’s vineyards, along with Twelftree’s knowledge of the world’s emerging markets, combine together in a business that is dedicated to producing outstanding wines.

This tasting fall into the “Highly Recommended” category. Join us from 5-7pm!

Saturday, April 11th: 11-5pm

We’ll have plenty of wine open to taste this Saturday. Jeffrey Carr with Stoller Wines willimages be in our Boundary Room serving up new items we have added to our shelves. Franco Lenzini and company will be at our Wine Bar with an Argentinian line up from Trumpeter Winery. Their Malbec is a staff favorite and it’s the perfect pairing for goodies coming off your grill!

Saturday, April 18th: 11-5pm

Heather with Rootstock Wines will be joining us this Saturday. Her portfolio Two Bortherscontains some delicious boutique wineries from around the world. Two Brothers Brewery will also be here. This family-run microbrewery has been around for nearly 20 years. Stop by and sample their tasty suds from 2-4pm!

Thursday, April 23rd: 5-7pm – Mettler Wine Tasting

Mettler - KimberlyJoin us as we welcome Kimberly Mettler with Mettler Family Vineyards. The Mettler family has roots in the wine industry dating back to the 1770s and they have been growing grapes in the Lodi Valley since the late 1800s. Kimberly, and her siblings, continue the multi-generational family commitment to producing wines of the highest quality.

We will have their Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Old Vine Zinfandel on hand to try. We are even trying to get a sample of their Pinotage (Tasting Room Only Wine) just for fun. If these bold reds don’t get you in the grillin’ mood, nothing will. We’ll see you on the 23rd!

Saturday, April 25th: 11-5pm

Adam with Tenzing Wines will be on hand this Saturday serving up samples from his NorthShoreDistilleryportfolio. He might even share one of his Roses with you. North Shore Distillery will be at our Wine Bar from 1-4pm. Taste Local, Buy Local, Drink Anywhere!

Saturday, May 2rd, 11-5pm

Derby Day Race Prep

In a race to get everything set for before the Run for the Roses, let Schaefer’s be your one-stop-shop. This way you will have plenty of time to polish up the Julep glasses and pull your hat box out of the closet. Basil Hayden, Jim Beam Craft “Signature” Bourbons & Jefferson’s Reserve are just a few of the Bourbons that will be sampled.

There will be plenty of appropriate Derby Day snacks availabe, too. Our usual Saturday wine tasting will also be happening.
